This show (les Francais - Italiano)
represents my newest oil paintings following my recent trip
to France and Italy. My trip included visiting Paris and the
area of Brittany, including Morlaix where we stayed at "Notre
Dame Des Fontaines". Then onto Grenoble, La Sallete, and
Gap in the French Alps. Provence and the Cote d'Azur, included
Arles and Cannes. In the Italian Riviera 'Cinque Terre' we stayed
in Monterosso. Then further South to Rome, Florence, Venice,
and Milan. I painted and photographed the area with my wife,
Angela; daughter, Mary 14 years old, and son, Jesse 13 years
old. We traveled light, carrying only backpacks, cameras, and
my of course my paints.
Europe is such a wonderful place!
So rich in art, culture, and in the structures and character
of its people. The galleries are so magnificent they are without
comparison and walking in the "Musee du Louvre" was
so moving that I felt dizzy and had to sit down 3 times. My
paintings are a mere expression to capture the mood through
color, lighting and technique to convey Europe's beauty. While
there, I gave some paintings I had painted to the French and
Italian people in my attempt to leave this area even better
than before I came!
My father was an art teacher and
I won my first contest in third grade painting a "Jack
in the Box" for the Forest Service Poster "Don't let
Fires Pop Up". Since then, 25 years of painting have passed
and my style developed into impressionistic with a touch of
realism. I have been influenced by the Great Masters and Early
Impressionists. Some of my paintings tend to be spontaneous
'en plein air' while others are created in my studio with much
planning. My subjects include landscapes, floral, portraiture,
western, and marine. But I tend to paint only what inspires
me.
My work has been shown by many
galleries, museums, and shows and is collected by many people
worldwide! Interest in my work inspires me greatly to create
even more and better work.
The work in this show has been
very fulfilling and reflects much inspiration and
I hope you have enjoyed it!
